In the fall of 1998 I was in a small business trade show in Thorold,
ON and I wanted a way to get the names of the people who came
by my booth. I thought that an electronic newsletter would be
a good way to do it. I had 7 people sign up and The PC Improvement
News was born. With such a small number of subscribers, I did
everything from my email client. When I got to around 100 I thought
I'd give ListBot a try. I
stayed with them until I had around 500 subscribers. By that time
I was on my second hosting provider, and my package included use
of a list server program on their server. I switched to that one,
and that is where it stands today.
The site has expanded beyond just PCIN though. I have added FreeHelp
Headquarters, a place where you can find articles, software
reviews, recommended books, and even a place where you can email
me questions. I believe that I can help the beginning and intermediate
user become more familiar with and more comfortable with their
computers and the programs they use.
For those of you interested, I am located in St. Catharines,
ON, Canada. It is about 100km southeast of Toronto and 25km west
of the Niagara Falls, ON and Niagara Falls, NY border.
